Just acquired is the Gerber Mark II knife made in 1973. Serial # 029899, this Gray Armorhide Handled Mark II is a real beauty. Unused, never sharpened and it does not look like it was inserted in the sheath, is a hard to find in this condition 1973. Most of these were issued and saw extensive use in Viet Nam. Here is a real nice example that I would say is in Near MINT condition. The handle finish/paint is 100% in tact with NO loss of paint or any chips, blade retains factor edge with acid etched logo, ( Gerber would acid etch or stamp there logo depending on the functionality of there equipment at the time). Sheath is mint with full stitching and snap that retains 100% finish, sheath throat show no blade tip scrapes which is common if the knife was inserted into the sheath. Blade shows no pitting. Great, hard to find in this condition, example of an extremely nice Gerber Mark II.
